Established in 1992, the Ontario Search & Rescue Volunteer Association is a provincially recognized, not-for-profit, volunteer based organization that supports the ground SAR teams in Ontario.

All OSARVA volunteers must complete these minimum requirements to become operational:

The Ground SAR Basic Course which includes:

  • Map & compass navigation skills
  • Clue detection and awareness
  • Search patterns
  • Personal equipment
  • Environmental conditions
  • ICS 100

All OSARVA volunteers must pass a criminal reference check.
